Haji Muhammad Nibo (Ciya Kobani-Azad Simi) has officially started his duty as Secondary Deputy Commander in 60th Division, operating in Hasakah district. Nibo is a former SDF/YPG Commander that had close relations with U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. Nibo also has been an influental figure through the talks between Syrian Government and SDF/YPG, regarding military integration. “This step falls within the framework of organizing the military relationship and integrating the military capabilities of the Syrian Democratic Forces within the Syrian defense system which enhances the unity of defensive efforts and raises performance efficiency in facing security challenges, while emphasizing the priority of protecting the people and maintaining the stability of the region” wrote “SDF Media Center” while announcing Nibo’s appointment.

Ahmed Al-Hilali, spokesman for the Presidential team overseeing the implementation of the January 29 agreement between the Syrian government and SDF, confirmed that “the appointment of “Ciya Kobani” aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the forces in the Aleppo and Hasakah governorates, within the framework of 60th Division, and to support joint efforts to enhance security and stability in northern and eastern Syria”

January 29 agreement foresees formation of three brigades operate under 60th Division agreed upon to militarily integration of SDF/YPG. Awad Al-Jasim is the commander of the division, who also took part in Sheikh Maqsoud clashes in January. Nabo’s appointment, in accordance with agenda of integration, comes after appointment of Siban Hamo as Deputy Minister of Defense for Northeast Region.
